Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh gets a bonanza from global IT major, Microsoft. This was decided during a meeting between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday. The IT giant would set up a centre for excellence in Visakhapatnam, as part of its digital inclusion drive in the State. "He (Nadella) has agreed to set up a centre for excellence in Visakhapatnam," the government said in a statement.

He further assured of full cooperation with the state government in providing cloud data technology to improve citizen services, besides sharpening focus on raising productivity. Further, the technology giant has signed a MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to deploy and use of information and communications technologies to offer better citizen services in the State.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hosted a breakfast meeting for Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella -- who is currently on a visit to Hyderabad -- at his residence on Monday.

Continued on P4 The state government will use technical knowledge which will support building of up to three proof-of-concept (POC) solutions to apply Microsoft Azure Machine Learning and Advanced Visualisation in education, agriculture and e-citizen services, an official release said.

These POC solutions will be built and deployed to address specific problems within each of the fields to achieve better outcome for the state. It further said that it will continue to engage and train the government's key IT executives on Microsoft technologies such as Cloud, Mobility and appropriate Microsoft Technology stack.

According to a statement released by Chief Minister’s Office, an hour-long meeting with Naidu over breakfast Nadella agreed to visit his native district Anantapur on his next visit to India. He was born in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh but was brought up and studied in Hyderabad.
