Visakhapatnam: Rich tributes will be paid to the world acclaimed Carnatic music exponent Nedunuri Krishnamurthy on Tuesday when Lokanayak Foundation will open Nedunuru Digital Music Archives at Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan on the RK Beach Road and also unveil his bronze statue on the Bahvan premises.

Talking to the reporters here on Monday, former Rajya Sabha MP and founder president of Lokanayak Foundation Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad said a digital library of Carnatic classical music would be inaugurated in the cellar of Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

Dr Prasad said the digital library coming up in the memory of Nedunuri who passed away in 2014, would be one its kind in the State.
The library would have 5,000 hours of recorded classical music with 31,400 Keertanas of 338 musicians, 192 composers played on 12 instruments which include Chitraveena, flute, guitar, harmony, mandolin, Bottu Vaadyam, violin, veena, jalatharangam, clarinet and saxophone, which were donated by L Raghavan of Boston and Secretary of Madras Music Academy Dr Pappu Venugopal.
“The auditorium will have 18 computers to enable the people to listen to concerts of masters by clicking selected musician,” he added. Nedunuri Krishnamurthy is the only Telugu Carnatic vocalist who performed annually, uninterrupted for 54 years at Madras Music Academy.
