Eluru: Journalists from various parts of the district reached Eluru and staged a dharna in front of District Collectorate, protesting government’s negligence over the implementation of assurances given to journalists in the State.
The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and the District Electronic Media Journalists Association led the agitation. The APUWJ State Secretary, G Raghuram, addressing the gathering alleged that the government did not implement the assurances given to the unions.
He criticised the government for failure to release funds so that the journalists could make use of the health cards issued by it.
