Nellore: An engineering student, who attempted suicide by jumping from a college building in Kavali on Wednesday, has disclosed to police that she tried to end life as an invigilator has reportedly asked her for sexual favours.

It may be recalled that victim, who was studying first year in RSR Engineering College located in Kovurupalli, was allegedly caught red-handed while she was copying in the exam at VITS in Kavali. Victim, who hails from Kammavaripalem in Duttalur mandal, has informed police that she attempted suicide when an invigilator reportedly sought sexual favours from her. Police recorded her version and began probe.

Kavali two-town Circle Inspector Mangarao said on Thursday that they have started investigation based on her charges and would register case accordingly. He said that victim is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Meanwhile, Kavali Municipal in-charge Chairman G Bharat Kumar alleged that college management is keeping mum on the incident. He stated that the girl was not weak student to copy in the exam. He demanded a probe into the incident. He demanded the State government to render justice to victim by bringing culprits to book.
