Tirupati: In an apparent move to improve its revenue, the APSRTC Tirupati region has resolved to lease the vacant lands in its bus stations and bus depots in Chittoor district to the private entrepreneurs for the construction of commercial complexes on built, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

According to Tirupati regional manager V Nagasivudu, the RTC, to begin with, identified three places, including Chittoor, Palamaner and Vayalpadu, where the RTC is having the minimum required land for taking up construction of commercial complexes on BOT basis.

Over 3,585 square yards in bus depot-I in Chittoor, 2,579 square yards in the bus station area in Palamaner, 3,973 square yards and 1,1036 square yards in the bus depot and 2,982 square yards in the bus station in Vayalpadu (Valmikipuram), which are lying vacant, were earmarked for leasing to the private partners for the construction of commercial complexes.

Talking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Nagasivudu said that a meeting of bidders is arranged at 11 am on Monday (January 4) at the Tirupati Regional Office in which R Sasidhar, Director, Central Projects, APSRTC, Hyderabad will attend and explain the terms and conditions for leasing the vacant lands for taking up the construction of commercial complexes under BOT system. He said interested private persons or firms may contact executive engineer (9959225667) Tirupati or deputy executive engineer (9959997775) Chittoor to get details about the proposal.

Meanwhile, sources said that, the RTC also identified vacant lands available in other places, including commercially high value Tirupati city, where RTC is having vacant site suitable for the construction of commercial complex in the heart of the town.

In Chittoor district, the APSRTC is having 14 depots in which almost all are in dire straits. It may be noted that the APSRTC, which is incurring losses, recently decided to take up the construction of commercial complexes with the support of private partners on BOT basis so as to improve its revenue in the long run to curtail its losses.
