Vijayawada: The centenary celebrations of eminent writer and poet Buchi Babu was held at the ongoing 27th Vijayawada Book Festival at Swarajya Maidan here on Tuesday.
Punnala Subramanya Bhattu, who is a writer-cum-critic spoke on the greatness of Buchi Babu and he described about his style and out of the box concepts.
Valluru Sivaprasad of Amaravati Publications spoke on how Buchi Babu had tapped the society's sensitive issues and infused humour in his writings. He said that Buchi Babu's work has won many government awards and stood the test of the time.
Meanwhile, a book titled 'Tea Thotala Aadivaseelu Cheppina Kadhalu' written by Saamanya was released.
The book, which is published by Saamanya Kiran publications, is based on the lifestyle and experiences of the tribals. The book is released by Musunuri Prameela and introduced by poet G Lakshmi.
Columnist Kuppili Padma, Andhra Arts Academy president Golla Narayana Rao and others spoke on the occasion.
