Partnership summit to have special session on State

The 22nd edition of Partnership Summit being jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the State government here from January 10 to January 12 will have a special session on Andhra Pradesh at the plenary session on day two-January11.

Visakhapatnam: The 22nd edition of Partnership Summit being jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the State government here from January 10 to January 12 will have a special session on Andhra Pradesh at the plenary session on day two-January11. The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will chair the session.

The plenary session entitled "Sunrise Andhra Pradesh: Turning Aspirations into Reality-Vision 2029" will discuss on the successes and secrets of Andhra Pradesh, the new initiatives taken up to transform the State economy and key challenges in it. The participants will also talk on tourism in Andhra Pradesh as an economic-change agent.
According to official sources, the State government is likely to roll out its retail policy during the summit. However, the proposed retail policy will be within the framework of the national policy and would be investor-friendly and will have high employment potential, the sources said.

The delegates will be made to understand that Andhra Pradesh is strategically located and considered to be the gateway to East and Southeast Asia. It is amongst the largest producers of food grains, fruits, vegetables, cotton, maize, dairy and poultry products in the country. The State has become a role model for many other States of India as far as investment, reforms and agricultural development are concerned. Over the past decade, it has emerged as one of India’s fastest growing States. Now as the State aims to be the No 1 in the country in many other areas.

CII representatives told this correspondent on Wednesday that so far 35 delegates from various countries had confirmed their participation and the final count would be known only on January 9. Among those confirmed include US, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, Canada, France, Australia, South Africa, Italy, Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and UAE. Trade Ministers from several countries would also be attending this three-day session.

Around 1,000 delegates are expected to participate and elaborate arrangements have been made by the local administration. Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister for Commerce and Industry is the Chair of the Summit and the State government of Andhra Pradesh is the ‘Partner State’ for this edition of the prestigious initiative.

The Partnership Summit, which started in 1995, to mark the centenary of CII, has since become one of the most important international business events in the country. It is aimed to further partnerships, build ideologies based on shared dreams that bind societies together in this knowledge-driven world. The summit has established itself as an ideal ground for business networking and sharing of ideas to debate and deliberate, where corporate seek a collective view beyond bottom lines.
