Rajahmundry: Madhurapudi Airport, which has tremendous support from passengers in last six months, is going to get more connectivity shortly, Parliament Member Maganti Muralimohan said here on Wednesday. He chaired Madhurapudi Airport Development meeting in here.

Speaking to reporters later, Muralimohan said that there were many requests coming from air passengers to run flights between Rajamahendravaram to Tirupati to Shirdi and Rajamahendravaram to Bangalore and Rajamahendravaram to Chennai via Tirupati. He maintained that he already spoke to Minister for Civil Aviation and consulted Airports Authority of India on this issue. He said he was going to consult different airlines, which were operating their aircrafts to Madhurapudi Airport at present.

He hoped that Rajahmundry would get all the three routes shortly and the number of passengers would also increase to meet the demand. He informed that Rs 171 crore proposals for air cargo from Madhurapudi Airport had been approved by the government and the works would be started immediately. Muralimohan maintained that the land acquisition for the extension of runway and other development activities in the airport were settled amicably.
