Ongole: The Prakasam district police, Child Line officials, and Child Welfare Committee have rescued a four-year-old boy from the clutches of ‘guardians’.

Married couple and Bhagya Nagar residents in Chinaganjam Nayudu Kalyani and Ramanaiah brought a two-year-old boy from the railway station. The couple has two girl children, who are elder than the boy. According to locals, the couple on the pretext of controlling the mischief of the boy is said to be harassing the boy frequently. Upon receiving a complaint from locals, the Child Line officials, local police, and Child Welfare Committee members reached the house of Ramanaiah to find that the boy was chained in front of the house while the doors were locked.

The locals said that it was a regular sight to see the boy chained and showed the wounds on his body resulting out of pouring hot water and inflicting wounds by hot iron rods. The police booked a case against the couple under IPC 324, 317 and Section 23 of Juvenile Justice Act 2000 and shifted the boy to hospital in Chirala for treatment. The ‘guardians’ are absconding now. The Child Welfare Committee and Child Line enrolled the boy in Aasha Sadan at Machavaram village in Naguluppalapadu mandal after the treatment.
