Anantapur: The central water resources department had selected the Kothacheruvu mandal for its pilot project on improving groundwater levels, informed IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy.

While speaking to the media at Puttaparthi on Thursday, he said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was making all-out efforts to turn Anantapur into a drought-free district. As part of these efforts, the Centre had allocated Rs 19.5 crore to take up this pilot project, he added.

All the necessary works would be taken up in all tanks, supply channels and recharging groundwater levels in the mandal, the Minister said.
