25 hurt as church collapses in WG
As many as 25 workers were injured when an under-construction church collapsed here on Friday afternoon. According to eye witnesses, Manna church, a landmark in Sunkara Paddayya street in the town, has been under renovation for over last six months. As many as 100 workers were engaged in laying the second-floor roof on Friday morning.

As many as 100 workers were engaged in laying the second-floor roof on Friday morning.
The workers completed half of the roof of the second-floor and had gone for lunch. After lunch, some workers resumed their work. While some workers were resting in the ground floor and workers on the duty started the vibrator to stabilise the concrete, the roof collapsed with thud.
Panicked workers and neighbors under the roof ran helter-skelter. Within minutes, workers who ran out from the spot returned and started rescue operations with the help of local people. Some workers sustained serious injuries. On learning of the incident, CIs D Venkateswara Rao, Ramesh reached the spot. Fire personnel were also descended on the scene.
