Government snubs HoDs; top officials decide to stay away

Hyderabad: The heads of the departments in the State government have decided to distance themselves from shifting the organisational set-up from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.

The HoDs are learnt to be furious over the government putting them in the dark concerning the shifting process. Instead of eliciting their views and feedback over the process, they feel it is the government and the employee unions which decide on things, and the same is being communicated to them. In other words, they have no other go but to give a nod to whatever that is already agreed upon.

Although the government had categorically stated that HoDs would have the last word concerning their departments, there is no such situation on the ground. Many feel, this is causing them embarrassment before their subordinate staff.

A senior official of the Revenue department lamented about the same. Latest in line of such events was the construction of temporary capital in Mangalagiri Township and later on shifting the same to the core city area.

Since the last date for shifting is already finalised, they feel there is not much they can do to get themselves involved in the process.
