Pilgrim centres in Kurnool dist to be developed as tourism hubs

Kurnool: Several prominent pilgrim centres in Kurnool district are to be inter-linked and developed as tourism hubs, as ordered by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. These are to be included in a special package on three routes. The tourism and revenue officials have been asked to prepare proposals.

This was stated here on Sunday by Collector Ch Vijaymohan while holding a review meeting on the special package tourism circuit at the State Guest House. He suggested to officials to offer trips to the pilgrim centres during visits from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kurnool.
Vijaymohan recalled that Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy had also mooted development of pilgrim centres as tourism hubs. He wanted officials to launch the hubs on January 26.

The Collector suggested that among the first tourism hub should include (from Bengaluru to Mantralayam) trips to Ayyappa Swamy temple, Sangameswaram, Kolanu Bharati, night halt in Srisailam, on the second day Rajiv Smruti Vanam and Mahanandi pilgrim centre and on the final day from Mantralayam to Ahobhilam, Yaganti and Belum Caves and return to Bengaluru.

He asked officials to prepare the second tourism hub to include visit (from Hyderabad) to Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti, Belum Caves, and return via Kurnool. The proposals on the hubs should be so designed as to facilitate visits to maximum number of pilgrim centres on a single day.

Vijaymohan while calling for coordinated action with private travel agencies wanted officials to inspect within a week the pilgrim centres in the district for finalising a comprehensive programme. It could be discussed on January 18 at another meeting with officials concerned.

The Collector stated that there would be a need for improving facilities on the highway besides stay and darshan of devotees in the pilgrim centres. In this regard steps should be taken, he directed the tourism and other department officials.

AP Tourism Executive Director Bala Subramaneeswar Reddy, DRO Gangadhar Goud and RDOs Raghubabu, Sudhakar Reddy, Obulesu of Kurnool, Nandyal and Adoni were present.
