Vijayawada: “Good books and literature help human minds to think, respond and reciprocate for a better community. They lighten the hearts of readers thus sensitising them over the issues’’, said Sahitya Academy Award winner Volga during the valedictory of 27th Vijayawada Book Festival Society’s annual book fare. The event was held at the Chalasani Prasad’s Sahitya Vedika, Swarajya Maidan here on Monday.

Police Commissioner D Gautham Sawang opined that the book festival would be organised at a much bigger scale from the upcoming years and expressed happiness over the turnout of children and youngsters at the event. Chairman of the Hindi Commission Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Ongole Book Festival president B V Rama Rao, VBFS president Babji spoke on the occasion while Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Veerapandyan presided over. Meanwhile, three books published by S R Book Links were released.

A book titled ‘Vitaminla Kadha’ written by Neelakanta was released by retired journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao and another, ‘Muda Nammakala Vimukthi’ was released by City Police Commissioner D Gautham Sawang. ‘Bommalu Veddam Randi’ another tutorial book penned by Artist Krishna Mohan was released by the president of the VBFS B Babji.
