Visakhapatnam: District and city secretaries of CPM K Lokanadham and B Ganga Rao referring to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s tall claim that with the success of CII Partnership Summit, Andhra Pradesh would become numero uno in the area of development, they pointed out that there would be no benefit with the summit to the people of the State except the corporates exploiting land, labour and mines in the district.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, Lokanadham felt that all MoUs signed would not be grounded and even if grounded they would benefit capitalists only as the government is ready to handover the fertile lands and mines to the latter.

Already, the Chief Minister has directed the revenue officials to acquire five lakh hectares of land. About Naidu encouraging retail trade sector, he said that petty traders would face heat and demanded that the government should release a white paper on how many industries were grounded after signing of MoUs in a similar summit that was held in Hyderabad in 2012.

Furthermore, Lokanadham pointed out that the Confederation Indian Industry (CII) has been organising the summits across the country since 1995 and the same capitalists were participating to ground their units. The State government, no doubt, will amend all industrial and environmental Acts to help benefit the industrialists. But there would be no job security or statutory benefits to the working class, he observed.

About the MoU of Reliance to set up a Shipyard near Rambilli with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, he questioned why the State government has withdrawn its earlier announcement of setting up of shipyard. City secretary Ganga Rao taking strong exception to the MoU of Trimex company for sand mining, he alleged that nearby ground table would be turned into saltish with the sand mining. He charged that the Chief Minister is not taking initiative to revive the sick industries like Ferro Alloys, jute and sugar.
