Cheating case accused threatens to sue media

Kakinada: A 30-year-old man was arrested on charges of cheating and creating nuisance at a local star hotel under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday.
The accused Nanduri Uday Kiran was presented before the media by II Town police however, in a dramatic turn of events the accused threatened to sue the media contingent for false reporting and police.

Alleging that police foisted cases on him, Uday Kiran said “I came to the city from Hyderabad for my mother’s birthday but was confined by the police without proper charges.” Uday Kiran hails from Suryanarayanapuram in the city and police say that he was arrested on a complaint by Eli Sarada Bhavani a resident of Ramakrishnarao Peta.

“The complainant stated that the accused collected Rs 3 lakh under the pretext of provision of lucrative job with Rs 50,000 salary per month, more than two years ago,” the police added. In addition to this, the police also booked case for damaging the property of a star hotel on January 11 and manhandling the hotel staff.

The police informed that Uday Kiran was arrested in 2006 on similar charges and again in 2009 in Hyderabad for possession of narcotics. It is learnt that the accused, who acted in few small budget films poses as an event organiser and boasts of ties with top film artistes. He is said have collected huge money under the pretext of getting stars for showroom openings, part from taking hefty advances from movie-crazy youth under the guise of openings in films II Town circle inspector, D Chaitanya Krishna said that though the incidents of cheating came to their notice, no complaint on that regard has been filed with the.

“We will act on the cheating cases, if there is a complaint,” the official assured.
