Former MLA and Congress leader Malladi Vishnu has been ordered for four-day police custody by the Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in Vijayawada in regard to the liquor adulteration case. 

Former MLA and Congress leader Malladi Vishnu has been ordered for four-day police custody by the Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in Vijayawada in regard to the liquor adulteration case.

The bar owned by him - Swarna Bar came under scrutiny when five people died after consuming illicit liquor and many others were admitted in hospital in Vijayawada. Malladi Vishnu would be kept under the police custody from January 14 to 17 and a Special Investigation Team formed to probe the case would interrogate him from 10 am to 5 pm but have been refrained from using any third degree method. The hearing on Vishnu's bail petition has been postponed by the Court to January 19.
