The state government announced  Sankranti as the State festival to give wide importance to our traditions and celebrate our culture. It released about Rs 1 crore for the celebration of the festival throughout the State. We should be proud of our culture and continue the traditions for the next generations.

Ongole: Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao extended his Sankranti wishes to all the Telugu people and called upon them to keep practicing our traditions and protect the culture. He participated in Sankranti celebrations and 5K Walk, organised by the district administration on Wednesday in Ongole.

Sidda Raghava Rao said, “The state government announced Sankranti as the State festival to give wide importance to our traditions and celebrate our culture. It released about Rs 1 crore for the celebration of the festival throughout the State. We should be proud of our culture and continue the traditions for the next generations.”

District Collector Sujatha Sharma wished the public of Prakasam district on Sankranti and expected them to celebrate it with joy and happiness.

Earlier, the Minister flagged off the 5K Walk from Ongole Municipal Corporation office to DRRM High School via CVN Reading Room, Court Centre, Gandhi Road, Old Market, Mastan Darga Centre and Trunk Road.

Joint Collector-2 of Prakasam district I Prakash Kumar, DRO Noor Basha Khasim, PD of DRDA MS Murali, PD of DWMA K Polappa, PD of Housing Dhanunjayudu, Commissioner of OMC Sankranti Venkata Krishna, DSP of Ongole G Srinivasa Rao and other officials participated in the event.
