Vijayawada: The State government has called for applications from the registered labourers in the district to avail merit scholarship benefits to their children, who are pursuing professional courses.

  • Applications will be issued at the District’s Commissioner of Labour’s office and should be submitted before February 15
  • The amount of scholarship for polytechnic aspirants is Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for the rest of candidates

The scholarships will be issued for candidates who have exhibited remarkable performance during the academic year 2014-15, said a release from Commissioner of Labour’s office.

It is mentioned that the labourers who are working in general stores, hotels, shops, cinema halls, petrol bunks, furniture shops, medical shops, iron and hardware shops, commercial, industrial, workshops and road transportation departments can fill the forms for their children wh have scored top marks in academics. The eligible students will be awarded monetary scholarship on the occasion of May Day, officials said.

The scholarships will be given to students who are pursuing Polytechnic, Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Horticulture, B Sc Agriculture, BCA, MCA, B Pharmacy, M Pharmacy, BBA, MBA, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician and PG Diploma in Medical Lab Technician courses.

Applications can be collected from District’s Commissioner of Labour’s office and should be submitted before February 15. The amount of scholarship for Polytechnic aspirants in Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for the rest of candidates under the categories, added the officials.
