Vijayawada: The Aqua Devils Welfare Association on Monday announced their 17th Krishna River Crossing Swimming Competitions to be held on January 26. The 1.5-km river crossing swimming competition is aimed at creating awareness among people on the health benefits of swimming, said the organisers.

In a release to the media, president of the association K S Ramchandra Rao said that the competitions were being held for many years in the city and enthusiastic swimmers from nearby districts have also took part in it. The competitions would be held under five categories, he said.

He mentioned that the swimming competition is open for swimmers between the age 5 and 75 years who will be classified into various groups. Each category will be awarded first three places individually besides the rest will be given participation certificates. Interested candidates are required to register their names with a photograph, date of birth certificate at the association’s office before January 24, he added.
