Visakhapatnam: Top officials of the district reviewed the arrangements for the ensuing International Fleet Review and District Collector Dr N Yuvaraj said 1.5 lakh passes would be issued to the public to enable them to witness the IFR programme beginning with rehearsals from January 26.

He said the passes would be issued through Mee Seva centres. He said delegates from 50 countries and different States would be participating in the event, elaborate security arrangements were being made with regard to security, accommodation and transport. He suggested to the officials to barricade the entire IFR village coming up in AU Engineering College grounds.

Around 25,000 personnel would be drafted for security since President and Prime Minister would be attending the fleet review. Commissioner of Police Amit Garg sought the university premises for accommodation of the police personnel to which Andhra University officials immediately agreed. Protocol incharge Ashok Babu, VUDA VC T Babu Rao Naidu, GVMC Commissioner and a host of senior officials were present at the review meeting.
