Six-day Second Asian Philosophy Congress-Gandhirama concludes

Visakhapatnam: Delegates, including eminent Gandhian scholars and philosophers of the six-day Second Asian Philosophy Congress, which concluded here at Gitam University on Thursday, appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government to name VUDA Kailasagiri tourist spot as Gandhi Kailasagiri and proposed to build Mahatma Gandhi Mandir atop Kailasagiri.

In his valedictory address, GITAM University Chancellor and Convener of Gandhirama Prof Koneru Ramakrishna Rao applauding the valuable contributions made in the congress, felt that the deliberations showed the importance of inter-cultural and inter-disciplinary studies to understand the nature of conflicts and factors promoting peace.

He announced that a book entitled-‘Philosophy in Pursuit of Peace’ with major presentations made at the congress will be published by the university soon.

Later, the general body of the Asian Congress of Philosophy and the delegates, who attended the congress, have unanimously elected the Chairman of Indian Council of Philosophical Research Prof SR Bhatt as the next president of the Asian Congress of Philosophy.

Presently, Prof Ramakrishna Rao is the president of the Asian Congress of Philosophy.

The objective of the Asian Congress of Philosophy is to promote philosophical study and research in Asian countries with a focus to develop inter-cultural and inter-disciplinary aspects of knowledge systems.
