The members of the council took exception to the fact that a white paper was sent through backdoor despite the resolution to discuss the corruption charges in the council. Mayhem began when Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai called for discussion on the agenda tabled in the council.

Irked by this move, the council members demanded for the discussion on corruption in Pushkarams before moving on to the agenda. When the Mayor said that special session would be convened on February 18, the YSRCP members staged stir at the mayor podium.

M S Chakravarthi, YSRCP deputy floor leader demanded discussion on the corruption charges in Godavari Pushkaram works and suggested to move the agenda to Saturday. YSRCP floor leader M Sharmila Reddy asserted that she has evidence on the corruption in Pushkarams.

Meanwhile, the municipal authorities started to answer questions posed by the TDP leader Varre Srinivasa Rao on Pushkaram works. Irked by the developments in the council, Rajahmundry city MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana took exception to the matter with which the charges of corruption is being dealt and demanded for special session in council.

Rajahmundry rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary echoed the same and promised that stern action would be taken on those who are responsible for the corruption.

While MLC Adireddi demanded for the discussion before going in to agenda. BJP MLC Somu Veerraju asked for thorough inquiry into the corruption charges. Rajahmundry MP Maganti Muralimohan was present on the occasion.
