Prasanthi Nilayam: 67th Republic Day of the country was informally celebrated in Prasanthi Nilayam, by planting Coconut saplings in the Ashram at selected places, by Sri R J Rathnakar, Trustee and Sri G S R C V Prasada Rao, Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. Prof Mukundan, State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations, Kerala and other Officials of Ashram also enthusiastically participated in the event, this morning.

The coconut saplings are of a special variety brought by the Sri Sathya Sai Village Integrated programme team from Palakkad district, which was well planned and organized by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations, Kerala.

These Coconut trees have a life span of 100 years and can yield the fruits till their 90th year. They will yield the coconuts within six years, by when they will be just 10’ height. Their tender coconut water is reported to be very sweet.

Simultaneously, total number of 108 coconut saplings, also regarded as Kalpaka Vriksham by the common man, were planted in the Ashram, Easwaramma Samadhi, International Indoor Stadium and Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, this day to reflect the moods of the devotees, with whom the ever Benevolent Bhagwan Baba resides immortally in their life.
