Vijayawada: Road Transport Authority (RTA), in association with Krishna District Lorry Owners Association (KDLOA), organised a massive rally to promote road safety in the city on Wednesday. The rally was a part of 27th Road Safety Week celebrations began at Benz Circle and concluded at Swarajya Maidan. Traditional folk art ‘Burra Katha’ that gave out the message on road safety attracted the motorists and onlookers.

Deputy Transport Commissioner V Sundar, speaking on the occasion, said that road safety was being promoted at large across the district. Usage of helmets and wearing seat belts would save lives. The message of conscious driving on roads was being spread out to encourage motorists to maintain consistent speed levels to avoid collisions. Wearing protective gear was a must while driving and public should voluntarily come forward in this
regard, he added.

APLOA general secretary Y V Eswara Rao, president of KDLOA Raja, general secretary of KDLOA S Ramesh Babu, lorry owners, drivers and workers took part in the rally.
