The city police arrested a six- member gang from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which went on a housebreaking spree in the city during last one year.

Visakhapatnam: The city police arrested a six- member gang from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which went on a housebreaking spree in the city during last one year.

The gang included three women who were identified as Alpana Pawar, Laksena and Mamatabai. The men are Rahul Pawar, Jobin and Chandrapal.

DCP (crime) T Ravi Kumar Murthy told reporters here on Thursday that the modus operandi of the gang was to move in the streets on the plea of selling plastic items and copper rings and identify locked houses in the process.

The Duvvada police received complaints from four victims whose houses were broken into at different places. The gang committed offense in Talavaripalem in Aganampudi, Satavahananagar and Rajeevnagar.

Most of the stolen property was recovered from the gang members. They will be produced in the court on Friday.
