As part of his efforts to end open defecation in the village, sarpanch LV Sudhakar Reddy provided financial assistance to the households who did not have individual toilets, from his own funds for construction of lavatories. District Collector Ch Vijaymohan presented a certificate of appreciation to Sudhakar Reddy at the Republic Day celebrations for making Velagatur open defecation free.
