Complete works to enable water supply for kharif
West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the irrigation officials to complete the Polavaram right main canal works to enable the supply of water for next kharif season.
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the irrigation officials to complete the Polavaram right main canal works to enable the supply of water for next kharif season.
The Collector, while reviewing the progress in irrigation projects with officials on Saturday at Collectorate here, directed officials to speed up the works by completing the main canal designs. He regretted that the works were delayed due to incomplete designs of the irrigation projects in the district.
He again expressed his anger over the Gayatri Construction, the contracting agency for their negligence in execution of the works even though notices were given. He directed the Superintending Engineer (PMRC) Srinivasa Yadav to issue another notice to the contracting agency.
He reiterated that at any cost, the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme (CLIS) should be completed by February. Otherwise, action would be initiated against the officials and the contract agencies. He said the compensation to farmers should be paid within 48 hours of the land acquisition. He assured that farmers would get the compensation amount in time as per the rules for Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Scheme (TLIS) and no injustice done to farmers in this regard, he said.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in flag marking of lands under TLIS by ILSF Agency in Yadavole and Jagannahapuram villages.
Joint Director P Koteswara Rao, Special Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition) Bhanu Prasad, ITDA Project Officer Shan Mohan, RDOs N Tejbharath, Srinivasa Rao, Irrigation SEs Venkataramana and Srinivasa Yadav participated in the review meeting.
