Villagers are elated over Chennupati Jagadeesh receiving Order of Australia

Vallurupalem (Krishna): People of Vallurupalem in Krishna district, native village of Chennupati Jagadeesh, are overwhelmed at Jagadeesh receiving the coveted Order of Australia recently.

As his parents Chennupati Dharma Rao and Vimalamma were poor, he faced lot of difficulties to pursue higher education. But, since childhood, Jagadeesh was a bright student. After migrating to Telangana, his parents had entrusted Jagadeesh’s custody to a teacher, Chaganti Sambi Reddy, who supported their son’s education up to Ph.D level.

Jagadeesh topped the ZP High School at Thotavalluru in 1972 scoring 403 marks. Since then, he did not look back. He pursued Intermediate from JKC College in Guntur and graduated from VSR College in Tenali. He did his Masters from Andhra University and obtained his Doctorate from Delhi University. In Canada and Australia, he did research in nano science and went on to emerge as a world-class scientist.

Buoyed by the academic accomplishments of his disciple, Sambi Reddy even authored a book titled ‘Andhrula Muddubidda Chennupati Jagadeesh’.

The joy of Vallurupalem knew no bounds as the son of the soil went on to become a top class scientist and also received a unique award from the Government of Australia.

Vallurupalem former sarpanch Chennupati Purnachandra Rao says, “I feel happy to see Jagadeesh’s rise as a world-class scientist and bestowing the Order of Australia upon him is the proof enough of his capabilities.”

Old Boys’ Association representative of the ZP school Yarlagadda Appa Rao says, “We feel very proud to know that Jagadeesh was a student of our school.”

His mentor Chaganti Sambi Reddy says, “I am happy to note that he is the recipient of the Order of Australia. I do not know how to respond to the situation like this as a mentor and a foster father. He informed me first over phone about the award. I consider the chance that I got to rear him as a godsend opportunity.”
