Uneasy calm is prevailing in the East Godavari district amidst rumours that Kapu reservation leader Mudragada Padmanabham can be arrested at time. While the government has deployed a large number of police personnel across the district to tackle any eventuality, the people of Kapu community and the followers of Mudragada are undergoing anxious moments.

While the government has deployed a large number of police personnel across the district to tackle any eventuality, the people of Kapu community and the followers of Mudragada are undergoing anxious moments.
Earlier in the day, Mudragada handed over his licensed revolver to the police. Police have booked about 64 cases in connection with the violence in Tuni meeting and more than 100 accused have been identified. DGP J V Ramudu held a four hour-long high-level review meeting on the developments aftermath of Tuni incident here on Wednesday.
He discussed the progress of the cases and identification of the culprits who were involved in arson and also reviewed the law and order situation in the district. He directed the officials to collect more evidence including video footages and photographs.
Additional DGP R P Thakur, IG (Coastal Region)Viswajith and SPs of East Godavari and Rajahmundry Urban took part in the meeting. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ramudu mentioned that a factual investigation is going on over Tuni incident and made it clear that there is no question of sparing the culprits in this incident. However, he said that precautions are taken to ensure no innocent person get fixed in these cases.
Later, IG (Coastal Region)Viswajith appealed to the people to extend their support in the investigation by sending any kind evidence including video footage or photographs in connection with the arson in order to identify the culprits. Tuni town police have booked cases on 27 persons including former minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, former union minister M M Pallam Raju, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumnatha Rao (Congress), former ministers Botcha Satyannarayana (YSRCP), former minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar (Congress), former ministers Kanna Lakshni Narayana (BJP), B V Ch. Mohan Rao and 21 others.
According to the Inspector of Police, Tuni town, Appa Rao, FIR registered on 27 persons who were involved in the incidents of arson, assault and setting fire of Ratnachal Express. Police have collected evidence including video footages and eyewitness testimonials and other clues before filing FIR.
The list of accused includes YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu, MLAs Jyothula Nehru, Varupuka Subba Rao, Dadisety Raja and former MLC Ganga Bhavani (Congress), M S R Naidu, MD of No 1 channel and film actor G V Sudhakar, Kapu leaders Vasireddy Yesudasu, Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi (YSRCP), Adapa Nagendra (BJP), Nalla Vishnu, Nalla Pavan,(BJP), K Tataji (Congress), Bandaru Srinivasa Rao(TDP), Muthyala Veerabhadra Rao(YSRCP), Dhulipudi Chakram (YSRCP), Yella Dora Babu (BJP), Areti Prakash and Jamithene Lankala (YSRCP).
