To protest against State government’s move to forcibly acquire 15 lakh acres

Vijayawada: The executive committee meeting of Andhra Pradesh Bhuhakkula Porata Committee (APBPC) decided to organise ‘Chalo Assembly’ protest on March 9, against the Telugu Desam government’s move of forcibly acquiring 15 lakh acres of land in the State.

Addressing a meeting here on Thursday, former MLC and AP Vyavasya Karmika Sangham State general secretary Jelli Wilson lambasted the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for usurping fertile lands across the State.

It was evident that Telugu Desam government was evolving plans to make poor farmers landless by forcibly acquiring the forest and revenue lands across the State.

He wondered why the CM has directed the officials to acquire 34,000 acres land for Bandar port and called upon the farmers to raise their voice against it, he added Wilson took strong exception to Naidu handing over a large extent of land in capital region to the corporate sector. The State government has focused on acquiring the lands of Dalits and Backward Classes.

In this regard, it has also directed the District Collectors to identify the Patta lands adjacent to the assigned lands to ignore the compensation for the landowners, he pointed out.

Jelli Wilson also said that Satyagraham would be conducted by the committee at Lenin Center in the city on February 19 to protect the interests of the dalit and backward class farmers.

The Andhra Pradesh Buhakkula Porata Committee secretary Vangala Subba Rao and other leaders are also present at the meeting.
