Tirupati: Stepping up its campaign for withdrawal of cases registered against BJP leader Kanna Lakshminarayna and others in connection with the Tuni incident, BJP district unit took a poster campaign here on Friday.

Speaking after releasing the poster here on a Friday, BJP district general secretary Samanchi Srinivas said that Lakshminaryana and others were in no way involved in the violent incidents that followed the Kapu Garjana called by Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham.

“He was neither on the stage nor made any provocative speech. It was the State government’s duty to identify the real culprits behind the violence,’’ he said reiterating party demand to withdraw cases against Kanna.

Further, he accused the TDP government of adopting double standards by wooing Kapus on one side and filing cases against its leaders on the other side. BJP senior leader Ajay Kumar and others were present.

Meanwhile, the BC leaders from Tirupati along with the leaders of Balija community expressed their solidarity to the TDP government. At a round-table meeting held here on Friday, the leaders including G Narasimha Yaday and Vuka Vijaya Kumar exuded confidence on the government in fulfiling the promise of providing reservation to Kapus.

They made an appeal to members of the BC communities not to worry on providing reservation to Kapus, as the government clarified that it will not affect the quota being provided to BCs. They urged the BC community and also Balijas not to fall prey to the evil design of the opposition parties keen on creating trouble to the TDP government.
