Congress MP Chiranjeevi and APCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy were detained at Rajamahendravaram airport on Monday while they were on their way to Kirlampudi to extend their support to Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham who is on indefinite hunger strike for the last four days demanding reservations to the Kapu community.

The Rajahmundry local police took Chiranjeevi and Raghuveera Reddy into custody as precautionary measures. Following the arrest, Congress activists entered into a verbal duel with the police outside the airport demanding the release of their leaders.
