Chittoor: Unmindful of protests from people and opposition parties for the last six months, the TDP government is going ahead with its decision of handing over the District Headquarters Hospital here to Apollo Hospitals.
According to party sources, the TDP leaders from the district are also opposing the government’s decision. It is learnt that the government has completed all formalities for handing over the hospital to the Apollo management on March 15, 2016. The Apollo Hospitals has already recruited doctors and nursing staff required for the hospital.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, Dr Saralamma, District Coordinator of Hospitals (DCH), has admitted that the Apollo Hospitals would take over government hospital here by March 15, 2016. She stated that Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (APVVP) has given its consent to extend its cooperation to the Apollo management in respect of the functioning of the hospital.
“Apollo management has come forward to take over government hospital here on condition of attaching clinical services. It would take steps for overall development of the hospital within three years,” she added.
The DCH said that the Apollo Hospitals would take steps for setting up trauma care center, dialysis and cardiology units, and other medical facilities besides improving the present bed strength from 300 to 1,000 beds. She ensured that no user charges would be collected from the patients and free treatment would be given to everyone in all wards. She felt that the hospital would be developed with modern facilities under the management of Apollo
Hospitals.
Saralamma clarified that all the existing doctors and paramedical staff of hospital would extend their cooperation to the doctors and staff appointed by the Apollo Hospitals to ensure the better corporate treatment for all the patients at free of cost.
The DCH stated that Minister for Environment and Forests B Gopalakrishna Reddy has taken initiative to set up dialysis units at Madanapalle and Srikalahasti Area Hospitals with the rise in number of kidney ailment cases in the district. She said that APVVP has decided to handover the community hospitals at Bangarupaleam, Thamballapalle and V Kota in order to ensure more medical staff and facilities for patients.
