CC roads to a length of 4,699 km to be completed in villages during current FY

​Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday said that the State was set to create history in laying cement concrete (CC) roads in villages across the State. Holding a video-conference with the Ministers, district Collectors and members of the Janma Bhoomi committees, the Chief Minister said that the State had set a target of 4,699 km long CC roads in villages in the State for the current financial year of which of which proposals for 4,527 km were prepared and 1,490 km roads completed.

He said that the government was committed to developing every village as a model village ensuring basic infrastructure including roads, drains, street lights and drinking water. He wanted the Janma Bhoomi committees to work with commitment and instructed the Ministers and District Collectors to monitor their performance.

He asked the Ministers to ensure that there is no misuse of funds by the committees and delay in delivery of welfare programmes for the people. Referring to the beautification of road between Gannavaram and Vijayawada, the Chief Minister told the officials to take this road work as a model work and develop all the roads in the cities and towns.

He wanted them to turn the State into a tourism destination for the world tourists. The Chief Minister said that the Central government had appreciated the efforts of the State in implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He said that the Centre had set 13 lakh man days for the State for the year under the NREGS, of which the State had provided 10.03 lakh man days.

He pointed out that Krishna district had created 60,000 man days and was heading to provide 80,000 man days by the end of February. He wanted the other districts to emulate Krishna district and complete the works providing additional man days for the people under the NREGS.
