8 burglars held, booty worth 15 lakh recovered
The Kovvuru sub-division police arrested eight burglars, including a minor and seized 53 sovereigns of gold ornaments and one kg silver articles worth Rs 15 lakh on Monday.
​ Eluru: The Kovvuru sub-division police arrested eight burglars, including a minor and seized 53 sovereigns of gold ornaments and one kg silver articles worth Rs 15 lakh on Monday.
Addressing a press conference here, SP Bhaskar Bhushan said various police stations in Kovvur sub-division had been alerted following series of property offences in the locality.
On receipt of information, the Kovvuru police arrested Annabathula Satya Srinivasa Rao (42), who was constable earlier in East Godavari district, and his associate Peddimsetti Satyanarayana (42) and seized the gold and silver ornaments among others from them.
The two accused committed offences in Konthamuru of Rajanagaram police limits of East Godavari district. They also confessed that they had committed property offences under Bommuru and Rajahmundry Three Town police station limits.
He further said that in another case, Tadepalligudem police arrested Korapati Bhavani Mahesh of Eluru and Kona Rajesh of Pentapadu in the burglary cases.
The police seized 21 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 4.25 lakh, 1.25 kg silver ornaments, a pen camera, gas cylinder and silver and bronze vessels in 5 different offences in Pentapadu police station limits.
In the second incident, The Tadepalligudem police took one juvenile aged 16 years into custody and seized 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh.
In another incident, the Kovvuru police arrested Rekhapalli Appa Rao, Gandham Nageswara Rao and Bandreddi Nani and seized 7.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments stolen in a house under Tallapudi police station limits.
The SP said all the eight persons were involved in various cases of which two were grave offences. Kovvuru DSP N Venkateswara Rao and senior officials were present.
