High Court adjourns Roja case, further hearing today
Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday adjourned the case challenging the suspension of YSRCP MLA Roja from the Assembly for a period of one year, to Wednesday for further hearing.
Hyderabad: Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday adjourned the case challenging the suspension of YSRCP MLA Roja from the Assembly for a period of one year, to Wednesday for further hearing.
The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Roja. The petitioner complained that Dr K Siva Prasada Rao Speaker AP Legislative Assembly suspended her for a period of one year, which is against the laws of the Assembly.
Senior counsel D Prakash Reddy appearing for the petitioner pointed out that the action of the Speaker was contrary to Rule 340 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the AP Legislative Assembly.
Dammalapati Srinivas, Additional Advocate General pointed out that the petitioner was suspended as she failed to follow the conduct rules of the house and also obstructing the proceedings. He said the house and the Speaker followed due procedure prescribed under AP Assembly Rules while suspending the petitioner.
