Srisailam: One person sustained serious injuries after a wild boar attacked him on Wednesday when he went out in temple town of Srisailam to answer call of nature. Mallikarjun sustained injuries on his thighs, abdomen and knee region in the attack.

The surrounding people shooed away the wild boar and called ‘108’ ambulance service. He was given first aid at the government hospital in Srisailam Project area and later shifted to Kurnool for further treatment.

Forest ranger Uday Deep told The Hans India that the cost of medical treatment would be borne by the Forest department and suitable compensation would be paid to the victim as per rules.

He told the people to give information about wild animals straying into human habitats. He also asked people living on the fringes of forest areas to be on alert as the wild animals might venture out of forest in search of food and water.
