Guntur: Kapu Corporation chairman Chalamasetty Ramanujaya has announced the organising of the first ever Kapu loan mela at Eluru on February 27, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Ramanujaya revealed that more than 2.65 lakh loan applications have been received online so far and the last date for the loan applications is February 20.

The loan applications received so far will be processed in a phased manner and disbursed at the loan melas, which will be conducted in all the districts in the State. Only eligible candidates will be issued loans, he added. Ramanujaya said that the Kapu community is happy with the Chief Minister as he has fulfilled his election promise of setting up a Kapu Corporation and in tune with the demand for loans, the amount will be sanctioned by the Chief Minister, he added.

He said the TDP government is committed to the economic emancipation of Kapu community and the Kapu quota will not affect the existing BC reservations. He accused Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy of dividing the people as well as the Kapu community for gaining political mileage. He said that the Congress had betrayed the Kapus since 1967 and playing hide and seek with them.

He said that the Kapus have immense faith in the Chief Minister as he promised to resolve all community issues within seven months. Replying to a question, Ramanujaya said that in the ensuing budget, the promised budget will be allotted and added that funds are no constraint for organising loan melas.

He said that the Chief Minister would kick-start the loan mela at Eluru, adding that subsequently, the loan melas would be held in Guntur, Prakasam and in other districts in a phased manner. The Kapu Corporation Chairman said that he had been touring all districts in the State to create awareness on the Kapu Corporation and the loan mela. Earlier, BC Corporation executive director P James Innaiah accorded warm welcome to the chairman.
