Digvijay rules out tie-up with Jagan
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh has ruled out the possibility of any tie-up with the YSRCP. Talking to media here on Friday, Digvijay said that Jagan was facing CBI cases and the Congress will not talk to his party. When reminded that in the past Digvijay had commented that Jagan had Congress DNA, Digivijay said that it was a fact.
Vijayawada: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh has ruled out the possibility of any tie-up with the YSRCP. Talking to media here on Friday, Digvijay said that Jagan was facing CBI cases and the Congress will not talk to his party. When reminded that in the past Digvijay had commented that Jagan had Congress DNA, Digivijay said that it was a fact.
“Not just Jagan even AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has Congress DNA. But the Congress party is not going to hold any talks with the YSRCP. “Jagan,” the AICC general secretary said, “was facing CBI cases and there was no need for the national party to approach him. The Congress party will revive the party in the state on its own.”
Digvijay said that Jagan had failed to see that the state government gets the promises in the AP State Reorganisation Act fulfilled. He said that giving special category status to the State, taking up Polavaram project as national project and giving special package to the backward regions of Rayalaseema and north Andhra were the major promises that were made for the State in the bifurcation Act.
The Congress, which had divided the State after due consultations and consensus with all parties, would now shoulder the responsibility of fulfilling what all was promised by the then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on the floor of Parliament.
“It appears that Chandrababu Naidu and Jaganmohan Reddy seem to have least interest in the welfare of the people,” he said. Referring to the Union government, the Congress leader alleged that the NDA government at the Centre was trying to push forward the Hindutva agenda in the country. He blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for filing sedition case against the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and said that the Gandhi family does not require a nationalist certificate from the right-wing forces.
He said Rahul Gandhi had already demanded action against those who have raised anti-national slogans in the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and wondered why the government had ignored this demand and arrested the university students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar. He also alleged that the advocates aligned with the BJP and its own legislator from Delhi were all involved in the incidents that took place at the Patiala court and wanted to know why the government had not taken the action.
The Congress leader alleged that the NDA government had cut the budgets for education and welfare during the last two years and had done several favours to the corporate sector. The government was also trying to do away with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) that was aimed at benefiting the deprived sections of the country, he said.
