Awareness event held to promote umbrella usage

Tirupati: In an effort to sensitise the school children about the importance of ‘umbrella’ as an object to protect from scorching sun or pouring rains, Sri Venkateswara Children’s High School (VCHS) here organised Umbrella Day in the school, on Saturday. The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in the event, displaying pompously their umbrellas of various shapes and hues adding more colour to the event.
VCHS manager Sambasiva Reddy said that the management held the event to inculcate the usage of umbrellas by the children as a protective object. “Umbrella usage is an age-old practice which our forefathers meticulously followed but was declined now in the modern times,’’ he said adding that the event was held ahead of the onset of summer which will be normally severe in places like Tirupati where the mercury level will cross 40 degree Celsius, he explained. “The children are more vulnerable to summer heat so the programme was aimed to create awareness in the young minds about the merit of using umbrella,” he added.
