In all, 88 Bachelor of Dental  Science  students and 33 post graduates took oath at the 10th graduation ceremony of GITAM Dental College and Hospital on Saturday.  Saveetha University Vice-Chancellor Prof R Rajagopal was the chief guest and delivered the graduation day address. 

Visakhapatnam: In all, 88 Bachelor of Dental Science students and 33 post graduates took oath at the 10th graduation ceremony of GITAM Dental College and Hospital on Saturday. Saveetha University Vice-Chancellor Prof R Rajagopal was the chief guest and delivered the graduation day address.

In his speech he said that the profession of medicine was prestigious with ample scope for growth. He stated that the present day dentistry is technology based and always challenging. He advised the young doctors to create awareness about oral health among the people to achieve success in the profession.

Addressing the graduates, GITAM president and MLC Dr MVVS Murthi stressed the need for popularising oral health in rural areas. He said that the government must take an initiative to appoint dentists in each primary health centre particularly in rural areas.

The graduates, who turn as doctors, must have social responsibility and serve the community with free consultancy in their initial days of medical practice.

GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof G Subrahmanyam and GITAM Vice-President Prof M Gangadhara Rao informed that GITAM Dental College and Hospital has produced around 750 dentists so far and appreciated the progress made by the college hospital. Principals Dr Ravishankar, Dr KV Prabhakara Rao, faculty members and others participated in the programme.
