Visakhapatnam: The total Coffee Project Management System in the agency area, including GPS system, extent of total coffee crop, allocation of lands to farmers, maintenance of silver oak nurseries, primary and secondary nurseries and supply of pulper units to coffee farmers is being computerised and incorporating all details online, informed ITDA Project Officer M Harinarayanan.

Harinarayanan who convened a meeting with horticulture officials and coffee sub-assistants in Paderu on Sunday, asked them to be aware of the new online system and the officials working for coffee project would be given tabs. He asked the officials to complete the sowing of coffee seeds by February 23 in all nurseries adding that mandal coffee crop centres will be opened shortly. To purchase silver oak seeds, funds will be given to the coffee crop assistants and the balance of 10 per cent of payment to coffee farmers will also be made shortly, he added.

The PO informed that a total of 13,650 applications have been received from Mee Seva centres of which 5,791 farmers applied for coffee groves, 7,574 farmers for silver oak plants and 285 for pulper units and those who had applied through Mee Seva centres will be given priority. The GPS survey of the coffee crop was completed in 60,000 acres, he added.
