Visakhapatnam: The YSR Students Union here on Tuesday finding fault with the defection of four party MLAs, including Bhooma Nagi Reddy and an MLC to Telugu Desam Party, demanded the defectors to quit the posts and to contest on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket.

Staging a protest against the defections after garlanding the statue of YSR on the Andhra Universty campus, Union State general secretary B Kantha Rao said that the party has made Bhooma as the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee and entrusted a key role in the party.

He asked when the TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu appealed the Speaker to disqualify the party MLAs defected to TRS in Telangana, how he could encourage YSRCP MLAs to TDP in Andhra. He termed that encouraging party defections is nothing but backstabbing democracy. He stated that the people are watching the consequences and will teach a lesson to the TDP.

Even if the MLAs quit the YSR Congress, people of Andhra Pradesh are with Jaganmohan Reddy, he added. State secretaries B Mohan and K Ravi Kumar, State joint secretary K Dheeraj and members Kumara Swamy, A Swamy, Joga Rao, Sudheer, Ramana, Ramesh, Varun, Balaji, Srinivas, Taarakesh, Simhachalam and Ganesh participated in the protest.
