Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram): Minister for Tribal and Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said that the TDP government is giving priority to the welfare of tribals.

He inaugurated ‘Chandranna Runamela’ at Parvathipuram and said that the government is implementing the SC, SC Sub-plan by spending Rs 2,000 crore and some more welfare schemes for those communities.

“We are giving Rs 50,000 to the marriages of tribal girls in the name of ‘Giri Putri’ scheme. We are supporting the tribal students and funding to study in foreign countries. Even we are promoting the merit students by funding and sending them for coaching in Delhi and Hyderabad. We will run petrol bunks through GCC and allocate more funds to strengthen the GCC. We will start honey processing unit at Rajamahendravaram. We will appoint 326 dealers for GCC depots soon and coffee processing unit also will be started soon.”

In all, 50 schools will be turned into residential schools and provide quality education to hundreds of students. Zilla Parishad chairperson, S Swathi Rani, MLAs B Chiranjeevulu, MLCs D Jagadish, G Sandhya Rani and others were present at the programme.
