Amaravati: People are pinning big hopes on railway budget for the 2016-17 to get train connectivity to State capital Amaravati since Guntur MP Galla Jayadev has requested the Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu to lay railway line to Amaravati and submitted proposals for the same.

He requested the Union Minister to take steps to construct a railway station in international standards in Amaravati to meet the needs of 25 lakh people and give priority to CRDA limits and sanction new trains in the budget. Jayadev explained need to develop new train corridor by connecting Amaravati-Tirupati-Chennai, Amaravati-Kurnool-Anantapur-Bangalore, Amaravati-Kakinada-Visakhapatnam.

He also requested to extend high speed train connectivity to Amaravati. Chennai-SriCity-Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad-Kurnool-Anantapur-Bangalore and develop goods transport corridor by connecting Bangalore-Chittoor-SriCity-Chennai. He also requested the government to develop New Guntur Railway station as bypass railway station and provide facilities in the Nallapadu railway station in the backdrop of division of State.

The MP requested the government to introduce new trains between Guntur-Mysore, Guntur-Tirupati-Guntur, Guntur-Visakhapatnam-Guntur and extend Mumbai-Secunderbaad Devagiri Express up to Guntur.
