Visakhapatnam: A 27-year-old youth Swami Raj began indefinite fast at Mahatma Gandhi statue here on Wednesday demanding the Centre to accord Special Status for the State.
After beginning the fast, Swami Raj said that he is from an upper middle class family and came to know the societal problems only after the demise of his father who was a TDP follower.
Though it was mentioned in the AP State Reorganisation Act about the Special Status, the Centre is not conceding. “I will continue the fast till my demand was met by the Centre,” he added.
