Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao on Thursday ordered notice to the authorities to respond to the allegations that a company was laying roads through a forest without proper approval from the government.

The bench was dealing with a public interest petition filed by Devi Reddy Manohar Reddy. The petitioner complained that Esteem Energy Pvt Ltd was building a 11 km stretch of road through a forest in Thondur mandal of YSR Kadapa district without proper permission from the government of Andhra Pradesh which was contrary to Section 2 of the Forest (Conservation) Act 1980 and the Environmental Laws. The bench stayed the road work and directed the authorities to respond.
