The Guntur General Hospital is all set to perform its first kidney transplantation surgery to a 30-year-old old man who was suffering from kidney-related problems under the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme on Sunday. The NTR Vaidya Seva Trust has already given its nod for performing the surgery.

Amaravati: The Guntur General Hospital is all set to perform its first kidney transplantation surgery to a 30-year-old old man who was suffering from kidney-related problems under the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme on Sunday. The NTR Vaidya Seva Trust has already given its nod for performing the surgery.
A thirty-year-old man has been suffering from kidney-related problems as both his kidneys were damaged. However, his mother agreed to donate her kidney to him and doctors already conducted medical tests on both mother and son. With NTR Vaidya Seva Trust giving its nod, the doctors are making arrangements to perform the kidney transplantation, under the supervision of director medical services Dr.T Venugopal.
If the donor donates one kidney, the doctors will transplant one, if donors show reluctance, the doctors will arrange kidney of a brain-dead person since the government has accorded permission for the same. Till now, the GGH had referred the patients seeking kidney transplantation to the Hyderabad.
In future, the kidney transplantation surgeries would be performed in the GGH which will be useful to the poor patients. The government decided to allow the kidney transplantation under the aegis of the GGH doctors including GGH Urology head of the department Dr. Prakasa Rao, Nephrologist Dr.Sivarama Krishna, Dr.Vani are gearing up for the transplantation and making necessary arrangements. So far, doctors have decided to perform kidney transplantation to two kidney patients.
First they are making arrangements to perform kidney transplantation in the Podila Prasad Building complex in the GGH. Meanwhile,the highly placed sources in the government, informed that the government decided to extend this facility to the other government hospitals in the state in a phased manner.
So far bypass surgeries and knee surgery to minister for medical and health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas performed in the GGH. GGH superintendent Dr.Raju Naidu said “We will perform first kidney transplantation surgery in the GGH tomorrow at the GGH and making necessary arrangements.We got all the necessary permissions from the government.”
It may be mentioned that minister for medical and health Kamineni Srinivas underwent right knee replacement surgery in the GGH recently.
