Online vehicle registration from tomorrow

Visakhapatnam: The Department of Transport, which has decided to extend all citizen services online, will be launching online vehicle registration from Vizag as a pilot project from March 1. The same can be extended to other districts in phases.

With the online services, the customers need not go to the RTA office and those who purchase vehicles will get registration through e-mail ID within 24 hours from the purchase. Transport Commissioner N Balasubrahmanyam told reporters here on Sunday that the online registration of vehicles was being launched from the city. He informed that those who purchase vehicles from auto-mobile dealers under the limits of Vizag RTA, excluding Gajuwaka and Anakapalli RTA offices, must carry a valid ID proof like Aadhaar Card, Driving License and the PAN Card for commercial vehicles.

After the purchase was effected, the showroom dealers will upload the ID proofs along with the details of vehicle and the owner to the RTA offices and the vehicle owner will get a temporary registration immediately. He said that all the dealers of 55 automobile showrooms and the RTA personnel were imparted training and the dealers were given login IDs. A PDF copy of the vehicle Registration Copy (RC) will be sent to the owner immediately by the RTA authorities and in case of misplacement too, they can download it without visiting the RTA office, he added.
